the
(evidently electronic) virtual space has to be provided with an encyclopedic
character.«15
an:16

»To begin with, we show that music and it’s science are a prototype
for modelling EncycloSpace. […] There are two streams of arguments for
conceiving music as an excellent testbed for EncycloSpace embeddings. First,
music testifies a very long tradition of operationalizing: From the beginning
of Greek musicology in the Pythagorean school, the musical instrument
(Pythagoras’ monochord) has always helped to operationalize thoughts. The
Pythagorean philosophy aimed at understanding the metaphysical tetractys
triangle of eternal harmony by the very playing of the monochord [12],
[13]. Thinking and playing were intimately related. Thinking by doing
has become a fundamental position in the metaphysics of of instrumental
representation, as sketched by Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno [14] and
developed by Jürgen Uhde and Renate Wieland [15]. From this, it is clear,
that computers enter quite naturally as instruments for music composition,
analysis, representation and performance: They are the extension of the
musical instrument paradigm to all levels of music activity. The common
place ›learning by doing‹ of the computer community is precisely the
extension of this musical attitude to general computer education.«
