About epOs
epOs (= electronic
publishing Osnabrück)
is a publisher of the
Research
Department of Music & Media Technology (FMT)
at the University of Osnabrück.
It pursues the promotion of highly talented young academics in the field of music and media technology.
Its focus: academic publications on music and new media.
epOs was founded by two professors of music and musicology in 1999,
Prof. Dr. Bernd Enders und Prof. Dr. Bernhard Müßgens.
Segments
The publisher is structured into three segments:
- epOs-Music publishes books with a wide range of musical topics, consisting of several series, developed in cooperation with the Institute for Musicology and Music Education (IMM) at the University of Osnabrück.
- epOs-media is working on topics like multimedia, media didactics and virtual learning environments since 2004 in cooperation with virtUOS, center of information management and virtual teachning at the University of Osnabrück.
- epOs français publishes books in French language since 2007.
epOs is dedicated to publish dissertations, post-doctoral theses, congress reports, multimedia projects and other scientific literature quickly and at low cost. The usual publication in three versions (in print, as an OnlineBook freely accessible on the Web, and as an inexpensive PDF- and eBook-version on CD-ROM, all with identical pagination) guarantees a broad distribution and permanent availability.
Characteristics
Scientific standards: As a project housed under the roof of the University of Osnabrück, epOs guarantees sound academic knowledge. Thematically distinguished series are being edited by qualified scholars of the respective field.
Multimediality: CDs/DVDs attached to the print versions and links integrated in the Web references offer multimedial content such as sound examples, musical footnotes and video sequences.
Global availability: Due to our open access policy, epOs guarantees the worldwide distribution and free availability of its publications. Through the large search engines, researchers can quickly find epOs-publications on their project.
